Part 1
Assign the permission set
- In Setup, go to Permission Sets.
- Find the one named PrintCrate User (API name
PrintCrate_User). - Click Manage Assignments → Add Assignment → select every user who needs to generate labels.
A fresh install auto-assigns this to whoever installed the package and sends a welcome email — this step is for adding anyone else on the team.
Part 2
Confirm the list-view buttons are visible
- Go to a Contact, Lead, or Account list view.
- Select a few records with the checkboxes.
- Confirm a Generate Mailing Labels button appears above the list — this is a standard list-view mass-action button, already wired up for these three objects.
- For any other object (standard or custom), use the standalone Label Generator app page instead — it works the same way, just with a manual object and record picker.
Part 3
Run your first mailing
- With records selected, click Generate Mailing Labels.
- Pick an Avery template from the list — the template picker shows the label size and count per sheet.
- Choose which fields print on each label (Name, mailing address, etc.).
- Click Save as preset if you'll reuse this exact template-and-field combination again — it'll show up as a one-click option next time.
- Click Generate PDF. A new tab opens with the print-ready sheet.
Confirming it's working
Quick end-to-end check
- The list-view button enables only once records are actually selected.
- The generated PDF opens in a new tab with real data from your selected records, correctly positioned for the chosen Avery sheet.
- A saved preset shows up in the preset list and applies its template/fields in one click.
If all three check out, setup is complete.
